EDWARD ALEXANDER (SANDY) BROWN It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandy on Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at the Riverview Health Centre. Sandy is survived by his wife Lucille (nee Mager) son Sean and his wife Jacqueline Meneer, and by his daughter Joanne; sister Jean (Allan Leask), their daughter Shaaron Enright (Kevin) and their family in Sardis, BC, and by his sister Wendy (Eric Kalinowski) of Regina. He is also survived by Lucilles mother Ida Mager; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Ken Batt), Irene (Tom Chernetz), as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sandy was predeceased by his father Edward (October, 1966) by his mother Christini (March, 2000) and by his father-in-law Gene Mager (January, 1991). Sandy was born to Edward and Christini Brown on April 7, 1939. He lived most of his childhood and young adult life living in Kings Park where he made many lifelong friends. In 1963, Sandy earned his trade certificate in plumbing. He started his career with Fort Garry Plumbing & Heating, worked on the construction of the A.E.C.L. plant in Pinawa, a hydro dam near Gillam, a pulp and paper mill in Prince Rupert plus many construction sites in Winnipeg. In 1980 he joined C.N. in Transcona, where he remained until 1996. Throughout the years Sandy was involved in many sports - hockey, baseball, golf and slow pitch. He particularly enjoyed fishing. In 1966 he married Lucille and together had two children, Sean (1971) and Joanne (1974) and made their home in Transcona. Due to his love of the outdoors many happy summers were spent at Big Whiteshell Lake. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Cancer Clinic, the staff at Riverview and the visiting V.O.N. Marlene for their compassionate care. The family would also like to thank all the relatives and friends for visiting him the last several months, particularly in the hospital. Although he had trouble expressing himself, he knew who you were and enjoyed those visits very much. A memorial service for Sandy will be held on Monday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (across from The Mint). Interment Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
